MY example:
In an interview with the British newspaper The Telegraph, actress Saoirse Ronan observed, "The majority of teenagers don't even make eye contact with people, even people of the same age." It is this type of "typical" teen behavior that drives adults crazy, causing them to forget they were once teens themselves. As a parent and teacher of teens, I know teenagers to be selfish, loud, obnoxious, and rude, but I also know them to be generous, kind, intelligent, and incredibly funny. As a parent and a teacher I know it is up to me to establish/demonstrate/expect the acceptable behavior/language/social mores for individuals who are not quite completely done growing. With the advent of technology, teens are forced to be/do/act older than they are from both an age and intellectual standpoint. This is not an excuse for the bad behavior, rather a call to acknowledge the need for better role models and established expectations. We as adults are served to remember we were once teens, and think to the individuals who helped form our best selves.(words: 175)
